Rustic Meets Modern: Master Bedroom Reveal!!
Disclosure: this project was sponsored by Raymour & Flanigan. The best sponsors anyone could ask for- donating an ENTIRE house full of furniture for a family in need. They also provided us with a cash allowance to purchase items for the family like small accessories.

A huge thank you to the lovely Charlotte Smith over At Charlotte's House for organizing this wonderful charity event! She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for several years  and most recently with Raymour & Flanigan as the sole sponsor.

A quick background on Habitat for Humanity. Habitat interviews hundreds of families and selects only a handful to help build a permanent home. Often families are moving from much smaller spaces and don't have the items they need to make their new house a home- enter Charlotte and her girl gang of interior designers;) Diane, Jessica and I were assigned the master bedroom. We immediately began to text and soon the design conference calls and shopping commenced!

The Master Bedroom Design Concept:

Raymour & Flanigan has so many fabulous choices online that it was really hard to pick. The family mentioned they liked a mix of Rustic and Modern styles. Diane, Jessica and I combed Raymour & Flanigan's website and store to find a mix of pieces that would work for their style. The wood dressers, bedside tables and large black lamp were a nod to the rustic. The abstract art, rug, bench and bedside lamps were the mix of modern.

A look at the Master Bedroom Before:
When you walk in the door you see this room has tons of lovely light! We wanted to provide the room with all the necessities so it took some planning to get it all to fit.
With 4 windows this room needed some curtains! Jessica, tackling the curtain rods....in heels!
The view from the back corner of the room. It was a lovely blank canvas and we were ready!!
When you see this Van you know something great is about to happen!
The install is only one day so we quickly got busy hanging curtains while the Raymour & Flanigan team unloaded the van. Diane taught us all her faux pinch pleat technique and away we went hanging 8 curtain panels. I have to say, while paint transforms a room, I now believe curtains are a very close second!! These panels help make the room look taller and kept it from looking choppy.

We chose these lovely Aversa wood bedside tables with the drexel table lamps for a rustic meets modern look.

The Brinley rug and Tatiana velvet bench brought in the texture we wanted with a  modern sleek feel.

My other favorite view- the lovely aversa dresser. The art was a great find at the Raymour & Flanigan Waterbury Store. This abstract giclee brings in another touch of modern and lots of color. Can you see the family silhouettes in the art? Cool right!?

The family was so excited to see their new Master Retreat! They loved all the little details and were so overjoyed at the small touches that went into making this space their home. It was a pleasure to get to do this for such a sweet & deserving family and so rewarding to watch this house transform into a home.

Every room came to life in just a day! See below some of the other rooms and make sure to check out the bloggers posts!
