A Dull Room Goes Bright and Bold
8:30 AM
I loved the length/flow of this room but it needed something. The wall color needed to anchor our massive abstract from Carol Benson-Cobb (check out her work HERE). The bold tones of the painting were not working with the neutral cream on the walls. Maybe the wall color would have worked if I had crazy prints and patterns in my furniture, pillows and rugs BUT I don't gravitate towards patterns and prints- I'm working on that;)

We painted almost the whole home in Sherwin Williams paint. We lived in their stores. My husband came across the paint chip "Deep Sea Dive" and was hooked. It was the only color we sampled on the wall. Love at first sight.
Little Vignettes, like this one, I carried over to our Connecticut Home.

The Dinning room set is by Century Furniture and was designed by Raymond Sobota for the Chin Hua Collection. You can often find it on 1stdibs or sometimes score a set on Craigslist, like we did.

I also worked in our wedding invitation, my Grandmother's china and a photo from our wedding.

This was the living room before we purchased the home. We immediately took the drapes down and removed the popcorn from the ceiling but it took months to repair the ceiling and decide on a new paint color.
As you can see, it was quit the process! Removing the popcorn was easy compared to finishing the ceilings. Thankfully my amazing Uncle is a professional painter and he truly worked his magic on this room from the ceiling to the walls. It was a ton of labor but so worth it for the final transformation. This room was painted in 2014 and showcased on Design*Sponge as a Best of 2025: Dark and Moody Interiors HERE
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers,
Kelly
